The National Centre for Research and Development

The EUREKA Initiative is a decentralised network that brings together 40 European member states and the European Union with the aim of fostering cooperation in research and innovation. Its principal objective is to strengthen the productivity and worldwide competitiveness of companies in Europe.

The EUREKA network operates through national EUREKA offices, which also serve as initial contact points for further information about EUREKA's activities and procedures. Each country controls its own funding.

The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) is the funding body of Polish EUREKA participants and is responsible for the coordination of EUREKA activities. The national EUREKA Office is an integral part of NCBR.

NCBR supports the marketing of EUREKA activities and encourages Polish companies and research institutes to get involved in EUREKA project cooperation. NCBR processes the Polish applications to EUREKA and is involved in the EUREKA decision-making process.

Poland became an EUREKA member state  in 1995.

Requirements for EUREKA Projects:

  • The project must be built around innovative R&D with a strong industrial, market, and exploitation orientation,
  • There should be at least one collaborating partner in another EUREKA member country,
  • There should be secured project funding through the NCBR.
